About Us

We are a family dedicated to all the best things in life and at the top of that list are our AKC certified German Shepherds, Venom and Vana! Located on a tranquil mountain top on the remote slopes of Haleakalā Maui is our farm, Family of Light, where our German shepherds thrive on a life fit for the royalty that they truly are!

My husband harvests Maui Axis-deer venison from our multi acre, off grid-home which has been their main source of food. Since puppies, their diet has also included fresh caught fish, goat kefir blueberries smoothies, organic garden vegetables, herbs and whole grains. This diet has optimized the health of Venom and Vana so significantly to where we believe good health isn't something to strive for-it is a mandatory way of life.

Our German shepherds diet isn't the only thing that puts them in a category of their own – the socializing and training they have experienced living this diverse, active life has been incredibly beneficial. Venom and Vana are very familiar with the sounds of quads driving around the property, excavators tilling the land, and above all they have been trained to be the guardians and companions of all the farm animals - chickens, goats, cattle and cats. Not only do they protect our animal family but also myself, my husband and our five year old daughter, never leaving our sides and being a complete part of everything we do daily. They are not just our pets, they are our family.

Along with the automatic training that comes with moment to moment life on the farm, we take the time out to engage in formal one-on-one training to ensure basic commands are adhered to. This ensures a well-rounded German Shepherd able to adapt to any situation needed, utilizing the already innate intelligence that comes with this breed.

Venom and Venom are incredibly intelligent, loving family members, who are also working dogs and guard dogs – filling all roles necessary!
Venom, Father (100lbs)
Venom is a loyal lover and cuddler. He is a big bear who gives the best hugs! He loves to chill on the porch chewing on his solar dried deer bones and playing with his girl Vana but is also an intimidating fierce guard dog when needed. Venom loves hanging out with his Papa, following him around on the farm, and going on daily morning walks with the family.
Vana, Mother (75lbs)
Vana is a sweet playful girl who follows us around every where we go. She loves playing with Venom, guarding the goats, and doing activities with the girls. She loves mental stimulation tasks, fetch and digging. She is a sweet angel, however just like Venom, when it comes to protection and guarding she gets the job done! Both dogs love the water and swim daily in a homemade pond on the property.
